If you enjoy being out on the water on a beautiful summer evening or if you delight in bird watching, you will appreciate this narrated boat tour of Lower New York Bay, past Governor’s Island and the Verrazano Bridge to the Hoffman and Swinburne Islands. Now abandoned and a bird sanctuary, these islands were once used as a quarantine station housing immigrants found to be carrying contagious diseases when they landed at Ellis Island. We’ll see snowy egrets, many types of herons, and an inspiring view of the Statue of Liberty at sunset. Our guide is the Audubon teacher, naturalist and eco-cruise leader Gabriel Willow.
